  • You are hiring the ITC ParWise par meter. This meter provides PAR and LUX readings, and also allows you to analyse the colour spectrum of your lighting. The device is simply plug and play with no complicated set-up.

  • The hire period is either 5 or 10 days. The hire period begins on the day that you receive the meter. The device must be sent back on the last day of hire at the latest.

    For example, for a 5 day hire, when you receive the device on a Monday, this is the beginning of your hire period. In this example, you are then required to send the item back on the Friday, as this is the 5th and last day of hire.

  • The meter will arrive at your door via a tracked and insured courier service. The meter is secured within a case and a poly shipping bag.

    The price of delivery is included within your hire cost. You will not be charged for any damage or losses that occur to the meter during the delivery. This is our responsibility.

  • We ask that the meter is dried and packaged back to us as it was delivered. Within the case, address labels and a spare poly bag are included, these are located behind the foam insert of the case lid. Please send the device back via a tracked and insured courier service. You are responsible for sending back the device.

    In the event that damage or loses occur when an uninsured service has been used, you will be considered liable and your deposit may be at risk.

    The recommended courier service is Royal Mail Special Delivery. This is a fully insured 24hr service, and costs £9.95.

  • The cost is broken down into two areas; cost of hire and deposit amount. For 5 day hire, the cost of hire is £35, with a £185 deposit. For 10 day hire, the cost of hire is £55, with a £165 deposit. The total amount shown at checkout will be £220.

    If you are hiring a compatible device from us, the £10 charge will be deducted from the refundable deposit. This results in a total hire cost of £45 and £65 for the 5 Day and 10 Day hire respectively.

  • When checking out, please familiarize yourself with the hire cost, and refundable deposit amounts of the service.

    The hire cost is the amount you are paying to hire the device.

    The refundable deposit is taken to cover the cost of the device if any damage was to occur. This is refunded in full when the meter is returned in a good condition.

    The totalling amount will be charged upon checkout, this will be held until the meter is returned and inspected for damage. If the device is in a suitable condition, the deposit amount will be refunded. if any damage has occurred, we will contact you to discuss the issues, and only a partial or no refund will be issued.

    For hiring a compatible device, the £10 charge will be added to the hire charge. The total amount paid will remain the same, but the returned deposit will be reduced by £10.

  • Android phones, Windows computers, and MAC computers are compatible, sadly IOS Apple devices (IPhone and IPad) are not compatible. Please ensure your device supports USB OTG. For any compatibility questions, please use the contact form to get in touch.

  • Yes, we now offer rental of a compatible android phone!

    Please select this option when adding the meter hire to your cart. The phone will be shipped with the par meter, and will allow a plug and play service. There is an addition £10 hire charge for this service. Once the device is safely returned, the deposit will be returned, minus the £10 charge for phone hire. Full instructions are provided with the device.

  • Corals are sensitive living organisms, and therefore make any changes in small increments over a long period of time. PAR figures will depend on the type of corals you wish to keep, as a general rule of thumb, for soft corals aim for 10-100PAR, LPS 50-150PAR, and for SPS 100-350PAR.

    We recommend measuring your PAR first, and making a note of your readings and light settings. If any adjustments need to be made, make a note of what you are changing. Once you are satisfied with the PAR levels that your light changes have achieved, then make a note of the settings. Now reset your lights back to the initial setting, and aim to make small changes over a long period of time, until the optimised settings have been achieved. The importance of a slow approach cannot be understated.

    An example of the above is as follows. If you are suffering from insufficient PAR for an SPS tank, at 50PAR with your lights at 10%, then adjust the intensity of your lights until the ideal PAR figure is achieved across the tank. If the ideal figure is 50%, then make a note of this, and return the lights to the current schedule of 10%. Over the course of months, and in tiny increments, increase the light intensity to the ideal level of 50%. A slow approach will allow your corals to adjust to the new lighting intensity, and will not shock and bleach them.

  • Yes, if you need the PAR meter for a specific day, please use the contact form to inform us.

  • When you receive the PAR meter, you will also be told a date to send the meter back. Please send the meter back before, or on this date. Failure to send the meter back on the requested day may incur a £5 per day late charge.

    Please note, delays due to postage will not incur any charges.
